When Black Jack is asked by Joe Siegel of Brain Pharmaceuticals, which manages the hospitalization of people called superhumans, to investigate the cause of the pathogenic bacteria that nest in their bodies and perform surgery, he discovers that the pathogenic bacteria have entered the pituitary gland and secreted a large amount of endorphins. ​
